Workwear for cleaners and cleaning companies

A cleaner works on someone else's premises: offices after closing, a stairwell, a school, a doctor's surgery, a home. Often alone, often at a time when there is nobody around to say who they are. The uniform answers that question before it is asked — that is its first job, even before protecting the clothes underneath.

The second is physical. The work is done on the move, indoors, in heated premises: site workwear is too heavy there within the first hour. It takes something light, that lets you raise your arms, and that goes in the machine as often as needed.

What the trade demands of the garment

Being identified at the customer's

In an office block or a residential building, the person opening doors with a master key has to be recognisable without explanation. A readable logo on the chest and the company name on the back do that job; a first name adds what a badge does not always say. For a home-cleaning company working under Belgium's service-voucher scheme, it is also what the householder sees on opening the door: a uniform in the company's name, not personal clothing.

Light, because the work is physical

Vacuuming, cleaning windows, climbing stairs with a bucket: the effort is continuous and the premises are heated. A tunic or polo in lightweight poly-cotton, short-sleeved, lets you move and dries quickly. Pockets matter more than you might think: keys, access card, phone, cloths — low, deep pockets stop everything falling out when you bend down.

Washed often, washed hot

Cleaning workwear is washed after every day or nearly, and hotter than everyday clothing. Read the label before choosing: not every piece accepts 60 °C, and a garment washed above what it can take shrinks or loses its shape. Plan enough pieces per person to last the week between two washes. And beware of bleach: a splash discolours a dyed fabric for good — white forgives it, navy does not.

Lightweight trousersElasticated waist, soft fabric. Nothing like site trousers: you crouch, you do not kneel on gravel.

Standards that may apply

We certify nothing: we report what the manufacturer declares, and we apply the marking without compromising that declaration.

EN ISO 15797 — The piece withstands an industrial laundry cycle — high temperature, tunnel drying — without losing its characteristics. The marking must follow the same regime: tell us if your uniforms go to an industrial laundry, and we choose the application accordingly.

Which marking for cleaning staff workwear

DTF transfer on the chest, company name on the back, first name under the logo: the name changes from one piece to the next without the price changing, and the approved artwork is reused as it is for the next recruit's uniform. On a lightweight tunic or polo, DTF has another advantage: it stays flat, where dense embroidery can pucker a thin fabric. It is designed for domestic washing at 40 °C. If your workwear is washed hotter or goes to an industrial laundry, tell us: in that case we recommend embroidery, on a piece that can take it.
